Weddings at Oxwich Bay Hotel Gower

Photographing weddings at Oxwich Bay Hotel, Gower is so idyllic in this beautiful coastal setting.  Alicia & Mike hadn’t banked on was the perfect beach weather to go with it!!  The sky was blue & the sun shone, every Bride’s perfect Wedding day!!

Both families had rented property in the area as neither families are local – though Alicia is from our home turf of Llantwit Major!!!  The local associations didn’t stop there, amazing hair stylist Katie Louise styled Alicia & her Sister Hannah’s hair and Charlotte Joy applied stunning make up to them are both from the Vale of Glamorgan too!  As Alicia & Mike live on the Isle of Wight it made sense for them to be able to liaise with their suppliers locally when they came home for Wedding preparations, so we were familiar with a lot of their Suppliers too, such as A J Gutteridge Florist who supplied beautiful bouquets & button holes that complimented the pastel pinks & cream colour theme.

Alicia’s stunning Enzoani, Harlem Wedding gown was from Laura May Bridal in Cardiff and Mike and his Groomsman and their Father’s tailored blue suits were from Moss Bros.  We started with Alicia’s family at the pretty Holly Tree Lodge in Penmaen about 10 mins from Oxwich Bay,  capturing the final preparations and taking some photographs of her & Hannah & the gorgeous baby Maxwell (Alicia’s nephew, Hannah’s baby son) We just love the moment when the bride walks down the stairs and her Father sees her in her dress for the first time, it is often very emotional and it was no different for Alicia and her Dad, we feel very privileged to witness this moment!

It was then time to head off to the Oxwich Bay Hotel to meet up with Mike, his groomsmen and family as they were greeting guests and generally enjoying the sunshine, however, it was soon time to get everyone in to the Oak Room to await Alicia’s arrival, in her Mercedes provide by I Doo Wedding Cars,  though Mike remained very calm Alicia was very excited to see him!  After the ceremony where the couple exchanged their wedding vows and rings from Pravins, back out in to the gardens immediately outside the hotel was where everyone gathered to greet the Bride & Groom and it also served as a good spot to take the family portraits and to take a photograph of everyone all together before we moved on to the Marquee that had been beautifully decorated by Bespoke Wedding Creations, though Alicia and her Mum had added the personal touch with the wedding favours.

Once we had taken a photograph of the fabulous cake made by Wish upon a Cupcake we continued with photographs of friends and family on the lawn in front of the Marquee whilst listening to the amazing music being performed by The Live Lounge Duo, who played up until it was time to sit down for the Wedding Breakfast.  Once the meal had been served and speeches had been delivered it was time to take Alicia & Mike for a wander across the beach to the dunes and make the most of the fantastic scenery, Oxwich bay provided the most perfect back drop for their Bridal portraits, we just love a beautiful landscape and even more so when there is a gorgeous couple on it!  All that was left to do was the First Dance and for us to leave them dancing the night away!  Can’t wait until next time we’re here to shoot weddings at Oxwich Bay Hotel, lets hope the weather cooperates then too!

Our second time photographing at Oldwalls in the Gower and as with the first one, an honour to photograph a family that we know well! Lydia and her cute daughter Fifi and gorgeous Bridesmaids, Rhiannon (her Sister) Daniella, Desta & Helen all got ready at The Gower Hotel in Bishopston, where we photographed the detail that accessoried Lydia’s stunning dress Sincerity from Perfection in Cardiff and the girls in their matching silk kimono dressing gowns! Lydia was lucky to be able to call upon friends to help her to create her perfect day, from the beautiful Bridal bouquet, Bridesmaid’s hand corsages, button holes, decorated hearts and candelbras etc. all expertly arranged by her Sister-in-law Rebecca, to her own hairdresser Katie and Alison a friend who is a make up artist.  A pleasant surprise, to Lydia, arrived in the form of a pale blue VW Campervan to transport Lydia and the girls to Oldwalls supplied by Colin at Lovebug, kindly ordered by Rich’s Mum, Dee, knowing that Lydia loves them!!! We travelled across the common to north Gower, arriving just before the Bride where she joined her remaining bridal party of their nieces as Flower Girls and her son Alex who was a handsome Page Boy! Rich and his Best Man wore smart navy suits, complimented by his 6 Ushers in grey suits matching the Bridesmaids from Slater Menswear! Lydia’s Sister Rhiannon walked her down the aisle, a very emotional moment, following Fifi & Alex. After a beautiful civil ceremony, where Alex played his guitar for his Mum & Dad and the guests, everyone lined up outside in the courtyard to throw confetti as Lydia & Rich walked through the shower of lavender! The weather was stunning and we were able to use all aspects of the venue for all of the family, friends and Bridal photographs! The lovely Dawn from Venus videos captured everything and got everyone involved in contributing to the Marryoke, which kept guests entertained. Rhiannon started the speeches and made such a good job that it was hard to follow, but Pete the Best Man and Dave, Rich’s Dad did a grand job! Another surprise was Lee (aka Trigger) had written a short song for the gorgeous couple, which was hilarious! Once the First Dance had taken place, The Supernaturals kept everyone on the dancefloor with their amazing renditions of Motown & Soul tracks, only stopping for everyone to go outside to see the fireworks!

The Oxwich Bay Hotel was the setting for this beach mad couple!  Dee & Gareth love the beach so much that Gareth proposed at Llangenith 2 years ago!  Dee got ready in the hotel, bringing Kate, her hairdresser and her make up artist Julie to prepare her, her Mum and Bridesmaids for the fabulous day.  Her Mum, Ilean, helped her in to her beautiful dress from Allison Jayne and the Bridesmaids complimented her in their Royal Navy Blue (Dee’s favourite colour) dresses, that were from The Cardiff Bridal Centre.  The beautiful flowers, yellow Calla Lillies and Roses were from Flower Art in Llanelli and provided a real Spring feel to the day.  It rained for the first part of the day and after the lovely ceremony at the hotel, we took a few family photographs in the ceremony room but then the guests transferred to the marquee for their welcome drinks.  This is where we photographed Dee & Gareth with their cake, personalised with pics of them, kindly made by Gareth’s cousin, whose company is Cake a chance on Me!  Their tables were beautifully decorated with hessian favours and chocolate shells! As soon as it stopped raining Dee & Gareth were brilliant sports and we went to the waters edge for some fab photos of them with the waves lapping at their feet and even a couple of their Groomsmen & their partners came to join them with some confetti throwing!  They spent the week after their wedding relaxing in Cornwall but lucky things have another honeymoon to look forward to later in the year to South Africa!!!  It was a fab day with fab families!

Margam Park Orangery Wedding Photography Wales

Margam Park Orangery Wedding Photography

Here are a few of our favourite images from last Saturdays wedding of Charlie and Ryan at Margam Park Orangery, near Port Talbot.  The day started at Charlie’s parents house in the Mumbles, Swansea with her parents and bridesmaids helping with the proceedings.  We met Ryan at St. Paul’s Church, Sketty, Swansea prior to the ceremony.  The ushers were doing a great job, ferrying the guests into church under umbrellas.   Charlie was driven to the church in the very cool VW Beetle.  Ryan’s Uncle Bernard helped officiate the service making it all the more special and aided by the beautiful singing form the Dunvant Male Voice Choir.  The rain was still relentless so there was no hanging about at the church and all the guests made their way to Margam Orangery for the reception.  We were lucky enough to get access to the House at Margam to do some of the Bridal portraits.  Charlie and Ryan even ventured out at dusk into the abbey ruins for a few shots at some of their favourite spots.  Their band Perfect Day provided the evening entertainment.

Manor Park Country House Clydach

Manor Park Country House Wedding

This post contains a choice of our favorite images from the wedding of Mel & Lawrence at the Manor Park Country House, Clydach, Swansea.  Mel got ready at her parents house in Neath, South Wales.  The ceremony was held at the amazing St. David’s Church in Neath town centre.  It was a pleasure to photograph in the church as it is so open and spacious almost like a cathedral.  We also had the pleasure of listening to the Neath Male Voice Choir before, during and after the service.  We took some bridal portraits in the beautiful park ground opposite the church.  We then headed off to the Manor Park Country House in Clydach, Swansea where we took all the family portraits.  We stayed up until the first dance and took a few more evening shots in the ground of the Manor Park Country Hotel.

King Arthur Hotel Reynoldston Wedding

This post contains a choice of our favorite images from the wedding of Jacqui & Paul at the King Arthur Hotel Reynoldston, Gower.  Jacqui got ready at her parents house in Swansea, South Wales.  Jacqui’s dress and the suits were from Pronuptia in Swansea.  The Ceremony was held at Llansamlet Church in Swansea.  Jacqui & Paul were then tranported to the King Arthur Hotel Reynolston on the Gower.  Transport was provided by SMJ Wedding Cars of Swansea.  Luckily the weather remained dry so we were able to do the family portraits at the King Arthur Hotel Reynoldston.  We took Paul and Jacqui into the hotel grounds to do their bridal portraits.

Oldwalls Gower Wedding Photography

Oldwalls Gower Wedding

Wedding images taken at Oldwalls Gower near Swansea.  Oldwalls Gower is a beautiful wedding venue with some lovely buildings finished in local stone, slate and timber.  Chloe and Tim had a civil ceremony in the timber framed main hall.  We were able to use the courtyard are for the family portraits.  For the bridal portraits we ventured around the grounds using the lakes, trees and natural foliage as backdrops.  The weather was amazing so all the guests were able to take full advantage of the beautiful Oldwalls Gower grounds.  The speeches went really well and Chloe and Tim kicked off the evening entertainment with a great first dance.
