Hensol Castle, Vale Hotel Wedding Photography

Jo & Dan’s Wedding at Hensol Castle and The Vale Hotel was a bit alternative to usual, very relaxed and without many traditional aspects, just how they wanted it!   We started at Jo’s parent’s house where Annie was completing their hair and Rachel had completed all of their make up!  It was all very calm as Jo & her Bridesmaid Lydia (Dan’s Sister) got ready with 3 of Jo’s friends to help and we photographed her accessories starting with her silk flowers, beautifully designed by Emma Hall Designs, complimenting the Burgandy colour theme.  Jo’s Mum helped her in to her beautiful Wedding Dress from Perfection with Lydia adding her jewellry and Annie securing the veil.  All of the Suppliers are either local or family members – Jo’s cousin provided transport int eh way of his VW Campervan.  We arrived at the hotel to find Dan and his Groomsmen looking very smart in their grey tails from Oxford House, with cravates matching Lydia’s dress, but we didn’t have much time to take any photographs of him as Jo arrived extremely early!  The ceremony took place in the conservatory, which overlooks the golf course, where Emily, one of Jo’s friends performed a reading and they exchanged rings that were bespoke from The Jewellers on the Bridge in Bridgend in front of 70 guests.  Immediately after the ceremony we were driven with Jo & Dan to the grounds of Hensol Castle where we could photograph them in the beautiful surroundings including next to the lake, the rain kindly held off so we could enjoy the Autumnal colours in the trees.  By the time we had returned to the hotel it was getting dark so we were able to photograph the Bride & Groom with their families and friends in the conservatory as the chairs had been cleared before heading up to the Castle suite where the tables had been decorated beautifully by Emma Hall, where their stunning looking cake was set up, kindly made by All Kinds of Cake from Pembroke (also a family member) and where they would enjoy a buffet meal before being entertained by Session, a brilliant band!  Dan said a few words but that was as far as formalities went – he even changed in to his favoured shorts for the evening!  Crazy Golf was a little surprise that they arranged for the guests to enjoy throughout the evening too.
