Coed Y Mwstwr Wedding Photography

A very different day at The Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel this weekend, we started our day there as Sam was getting ready in one of their rooms and they had their Civil ceremony there too!  We bumped in to Emma from Love-Lily Flowers, Abergavenny who had just finished delivering the beautiful bouquets and table flowers!  The room was full of laughter from Sam, her bridesmaids, Mum & Dad, Joanne from MAC make up and Rachel from De La Vega Hair, so there was plenty to photograph.  After the dual language, English & Welsh, ceremony we went straight out in to the sunshine for the family photographs and we took Sam & Ifan down to the bottom of the drive to capture the perfect lighting under the trees and in the meadow that was just starting to bloom with the wild flowers which was just perfect for their love of the outdoors.  They currently live in Australia so the day was particularly special for them and their families as they don’t get to see each other very often and a lot of thought had gone in to the finishing touches such as the pots of honey as some of the favours which had come form Sam’s Dad’s bees and the heart shape Welsh cakes by Megan’s Welsh Cakes, to the 3 tier Wedding cake that had been made by the Groom’s mum and had bumble bees made out of icing adorning the top tier!  The speeches were said before the wedding breakfast so that everyone could relax and enjoy their meal, Ifan’s Best Man was his best friend James who had travelled from Australia to attend the day!  We left the lovely couple as they were about to enjoy their wedding breakfast and we look forward to seeing Sam & Ifan after their honeymoon in Scotland!

This fabulous couple had their Wedding Reception at The Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch, Bridgend.  We started in Llantwit Fardre at Ceri’s parents house with a Bridesmaid, Pebble, applying make up and Nadine creating hair styles!  The rainy, wild & windy weather certainly didn’t dampen their mood as laughter was constant whilst they were all getting ready!  Though there were two emotional moments when Ceri opened her presents from Kieran and when she walked down the stairs to her Mum & Dad waiting at the bottom.  We photographed all of the detail such as the dress, shoes jewellery etc. using the Bridesmaids dress, made by a family friend, which was navy blue with a burnt orange belt, to keep with the colour theme that was chosen.  They totally complimented Ceri’s dress Paloma Blanca from Laura May, which was very floaty with French Alencon lace and a ruffled organdy skirt!  The beautiful flowers from Flower Power in Church Village finished off the look perfectly.  We arrived at St Illtud’s Church in Upper Church Village a few minutes prior to the ceremony.  The Ushers were on hand with umbrellas to help the Bridesmaids and Ceri in to the church, though it stopped raining just in time!  After the ceremony we caught up on all of the photographs of Kieran and his family and Best Men and Ushers in their smart navy suits from Dyfed Menswear, with their burnt orange rose button holes.  They were driven to the Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel in the Vintage Beauford they had hired for the day.  A lot of thought had gone in to decorating their room for the Wedding Breakfast, with pretty lace bows on their chair covers and the table names appropriately chosen as their favourite restaurants – appropriate as Kieran is a Head Chef at The Chapel 1877 restaurant in Cardiff!  Even though it was a very blustery day we had great fun photographing them in the grounds of the hotel and all of the guests were great sports to come outside for their photos too.  The evening was kicked off by their amazing DJ and then their band Dansette added some live music too!  We hope they have a fab honeymoon on safari!!

Bluebell Wood Family Portrait

Bluebell Wood Family Portrait

We feel extremely honoured that we are able to photograph this little family repeatedly!  We first photographed Sarah & Jamie at their wedding in September 2008 and have then photographed Sam, Bryony & Ben as they have come along!  This shoot was all about the Bluebells, in the Bluebell wood close to their home in St Hilary, we walked to the spot and then captured them enjoying the warm sun, sitting on fallen trees and even a bit of climbing – good old fashioned kids fun!

Linda & Rachel’s Civil Partnership at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama was the perfect venue for this gorgeous couple’s special day!  The sun shone, their 26 guests arrived in good time and Rachel’s cousin drove them to the ceremony that was being held in the converted stables, in their very own VW Campervan, complete with blue ribbons!  They both looked elegant in LK Bennett dresses and shoes, complimented by single ‘felt’ white roses.  Their roses also matched the table centres that were very cleverly created by Sarah Jones from The Mustard Pot.  The ceremony room was adorned with wicker and wooden hearts, one each for their guests who were lovingly invited to share their big moment!  It was a beautiful day for walking in the park which is exactly what we did with the wedding party and took them in to Bute Park at Cardiff Castle for some natural and a couple of formal family and friends photographs.  They headed back in to the Anthony Hopkins Centre for their Wedding breakfast which was prepared and served by staff from the college.  Once the heartfelt speeches were delivered we headed off to the main entrance of the College for the evening party where a further 150 guests joined them!   Linda & Rachel made their entrance across the walkway above their guests to the sounds of ‘Here Come the Girls’ by the Sugababes much to their guests delight!  Once they had danced their First Dance they then cut their cake, suitably adorned with a campervan, made by Rhiannon Parry’s Cake Kitchen.  The main aim of the evening was to keep enjoying and everyone definitely did that, dancing the night away!

South Wales Cake Smash Photography

Elin’s First Birthday Cake Smash

This was our first ‘Cake Smash’ and we had so much fun!  Elin didn’t so much as smash but delicately pick at the cake  and clearly enjoyed the taste as each mouthful was followed by a ‘Mmmmmmm’!  The Rainbow Cake was provided by Happy Occasion Cakes in Cwmbran and was delicious – as usual!  They make bespoke cakes to order.  We provided the cake stand and bunting and Mum provided the ‘frilly pants’.  This portrait shoot is the last in the ‘Bump to Baby and onwards Package’, Mum, Rachel, didn’t want the maternity shoot but we first photographed Elin when she was 10 days old!  We hope to be able to continue to photograph her throughout her young life and mark milestones with fun photo shoots!

Oxwich Bay Hotel Wedding Photography

The Oxwich Bay Hotel was the setting for this beach mad couple!  Dee & Gareth love the beach so much that Gareth proposed at Llangenith 2 years ago!  Dee got ready in the hotel, bringing Kate, her hairdresser and her make up artist Julie to prepare her, her Mum and Bridesmaids for the fabulous day.  Her Mum, Ilean, helped her in to her beautiful dress from Allison Jayne and the Bridesmaids complimented her in their Royal Navy Blue (Dee’s favourite colour) dresses, that were from The Cardiff Bridal Centre.  The beautiful flowers, yellow Calla Lillies and Roses were from Flower Art in Llanelli and provided a real Spring feel to the day.  It rained for the first part of the day and after the lovely ceremony at the hotel, we took a few family photographs in the ceremony room but then the guests transferred to the marquee for their welcome drinks.  This is where we photographed Dee & Gareth with their cake, personalised with pics of them, kindly made by Gareth’s cousin, whose company is Cake a chance on Me!  Their tables were beautifully decorated with hessian favours and chocolate shells! As soon as it stopped raining Dee & Gareth were brilliant sports and we went to the waters edge for some fab photos of them with the waves lapping at their feet and even a couple of their Groomsmen & their partners came to join them with some confetti throwing!  They spent the week after their wedding relaxing in Cornwall but lucky things have another honeymoon to look forward to later in the year to South Africa!!!  It was a fab day with fab families!
