Weddings at Coed Y Mwstwr Bridgend

Love photographing weddings at Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel.  Once again, the gorgeous venue for Lynne & Ben’s Welsh Spring Wedding and the weather did them proud!  We arrived to find Lynne, her daughter Grace and the two Mums etc. having their Make Up & Hair done by Joanne from MAC and Annie Mccormack respectively, so the room was full of happy atmosphere but a bit busy so we took Lynne’s stunning Maggie Sottero dress to the room next door that was lighter – and being prepared for other wedding guests – along with her bouquet from David Jones Florist.

The colour theme for the day was pale pink and ivory, perfectly captured in Grace’s dress from Monsoon complimenting the flowers, the cake that was made by a friend Jenny Vade and the reception room that was dressed by the hotel.  Ben was in charge of their Son, Joe who is only 10 months, he was getting ready in another room so popped there to help him with his tie and button hole, he and all of the Wedding party Men had worn their own suits, he had chosen a navy one which looked lovely with the pink and ivory of Lynne & Grace.

It was a very emotional ceremony, Grace and Lynne’s niece Mia had written their own poems and read them expertly, but the whole day was based around having fun so once the ceremony was over everyone was out on the lawn playing lawn games and there was lots of laughter to be heard!  We took the formal photographs and then whisked Lynne & Ben off just down to the end of the drive to use the lovely setting of an avenue of trees, it was cooler and gave them some time to themselves before getting back to all of their family and friends.

Fabulous speeches followed a delicious wedding breakfast, we managed to pop out for a few more photographs with Lynne & Ben to capture the remainder of the sunset through the trees, then Lynne threw her bouquet (one that she had made not the actual one!) and her niece Mia caught it, much to everyone’s delight – though at 14 she won’t be getting married next we don’t think 😉  The fabulous Justin Banwell & his brother Mike from Black Panther Discos who are the resident DJs got the evening off to a great start, the First Dance was ‘This Year’s Love’ by David Gray, then straight in to some top tunes to get everyone up on the dancefloor, where they pretty much stayed all night except to have some buffet!!!!   Can’t wait to photograph our weddings at the Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, always a great day!

A very different day at The Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel this weekend, we started our day there as Sam was getting ready in one of their rooms and they had their Civil ceremony there too!  We bumped in to Emma from Love-Lily Flowers, Abergavenny who had just finished delivering the beautiful bouquets and table flowers!  The room was full of laughter from Sam, her bridesmaids, Mum & Dad, Joanne from MAC make up and Rachel from De La Vega Hair, so there was plenty to photograph.  After the dual language, English & Welsh, ceremony we went straight out in to the sunshine for the family photographs and we took Sam & Ifan down to the bottom of the drive to capture the perfect lighting under the trees and in the meadow that was just starting to bloom with the wild flowers which was just perfect for their love of the outdoors.  They currently live in Australia so the day was particularly special for them and their families as they don’t get to see each other very often and a lot of thought had gone in to the finishing touches such as the pots of honey as some of the favours which had come form Sam’s Dad’s bees and the heart shape Welsh cakes by Megan’s Welsh Cakes, to the 3 tier Wedding cake that had been made by the Groom’s mum and had bumble bees made out of icing adorning the top tier!  The speeches were said before the wedding breakfast so that everyone could relax and enjoy their meal, Ifan’s Best Man was his best friend James who had travelled from Australia to attend the day!  We left the lovely couple as they were about to enjoy their wedding breakfast and we look forward to seeing Sam & Ifan after their honeymoon in Scotland!

This fabulous couple had their Wedding Reception at The Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch, Bridgend.  We started in Llantwit Fardre at Ceri’s parents house with a Bridesmaid, Pebble, applying make up and Nadine creating hair styles!  The rainy, wild & windy weather certainly didn’t dampen their mood as laughter was constant whilst they were all getting ready!  Though there were two emotional moments when Ceri opened her presents from Kieran and when she walked down the stairs to her Mum & Dad waiting at the bottom.  We photographed all of the detail such as the dress, shoes jewellery etc. using the Bridesmaids dress, made by a family friend, which was navy blue with a burnt orange belt, to keep with the colour theme that was chosen.  They totally complimented Ceri’s dress Paloma Blanca from Laura May, which was very floaty with French Alencon lace and a ruffled organdy skirt!  The beautiful flowers from Flower Power in Church Village finished off the look perfectly.  We arrived at St Illtud’s Church in Upper Church Village a few minutes prior to the ceremony.  The Ushers were on hand with umbrellas to help the Bridesmaids and Ceri in to the church, though it stopped raining just in time!  After the ceremony we caught up on all of the photographs of Kieran and his family and Best Men and Ushers in their smart navy suits from Dyfed Menswear, with their burnt orange rose button holes.  They were driven to the Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel in the Vintage Beauford they had hired for the day.  A lot of thought had gone in to decorating their room for the Wedding Breakfast, with pretty lace bows on their chair covers and the table names appropriately chosen as their favourite restaurants – appropriate as Kieran is a Head Chef at The Chapel 1877 restaurant in Cardiff!  Even though it was a very blustery day we had great fun photographing them in the grounds of the hotel and all of the guests were great sports to come outside for their photos too.  The evening was kicked off by their amazing DJ and then their band Dansette added some live music too!  We hope they have a fab honeymoon on safari!!

Here are a few of our favourite images from our latest wedding of Lori & Chris at St George’s Church, Cwmparc & The Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch nr Bridgend (3 years after the proposal in romantic Paris!).  We started at Lori’s parent’s house in Treorchy where she was helped in to her dress, which was from Rowberry’s in Swansea, by Mum & her 5 Bridesmaids.  The colour theme was ivory and pistachio, also the colour of the Bridesmaids dresses which were from Perfection in Cardiff, along with the decoration of the room and tables at The Coed Y Mwstr Hotel.  Chris, his best man and Ushers were waiting nervously (though the news of a George North try for the Lions put a smile on their faces!) for us at the Church in their smart suits form Dyfed Menswear, with the Treorchy Male Voice Choir already entertaining the guests!   After the ceremony we were able to take the traditional ‘confetti’ shot just outside under the Church gates, then Lori & Chris got in to their 1930′s Style 2 Door Beauford Convertible supplied by Illtud Wedding Cars also from Llantwit Major.  Guests then made their way to The Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel for drinks and canapes.  We took all of the family portraits in front and the side of the hotel, utilising the various backdrops that the hotel provides.  After the Wedding Breakfast we took Lori & Chris back down the driveway to take some beautiful Bridal Portraits in the field of buttercups and walking through the archway of trees!  We captured the first dance and then left the happy couple and their fab family and friends to dance the night away to the band Jukebox!

Here are a few of our favourite images from the wedding of Lauren & Chris!  It all started with a proposal on a Caribbean Cruise and the destinations visited on the cruise provided their table names for the Wedding Reception!  Lauren got ready in her parent’s house with her Bridesmaids and Mum having their finishing touches to their Make up, expertly applied by Victoria from MAC in the Capitol Centre in Cardiff.  Conveniently Chris was getting ready in their home which is just around the corner so we went to catch the boys finishing their preparations, doing up ties adding cufflinks and having a glass of fizz!   Lauren had her Maid of Honour and two Bridesmaids to help her in to her dress which along with their dresses came from Laura May and her Jimmy Choos!!  The 2 x Phantom Rolls Royce arrived to take the girls and Mum & Dad to St Margaret’s Church in Aberaman.  The rain held off for Lauren to get in to the church but after a lovely service it was raining again so we headed straight off to the Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch, Bridgend.  We started photographing in the amazing new Hendre Suite, with the beautiful cake made by Emma Jayne of Aberdare, it was very cleverly designed to replicate Lauren’s dress!  The colour theme for the day was pink and the chair covers and table decorations reflected this, they were beautifully decorated by Mathew & Onn.  The rain stopped and we photographed Lauren & Chris with their cars, they even got to have a drive of them in the hotel grounds!! The evening entertainment was provided by a DJ followed the live performance of the band ‘Vegas Live’!

A Wedding photographed at  The Coed Y Mwstwr in Coychurch, near Bridgend South Wales.  Spring is a lovely time of year at Coed Y Mwstwr when the daffodils are in full bloom.  It was great to be able to photograph in the grounds of Coed Y Mwstwr with all the wild flowers about.  The bride got ready in one of the Hotel rooms, we then went to a church in Newton, Porthcawl.  We were able to take a few bridal protraits at Newton Beach and then it was back to the Coed to cover the rest of the day and evening.
