St Donats Castle Wedding Photography

We were lucky to work locally again last Saturday at the stunning St Donats Castle and Church for Ceri & Phil’s fab Wedding Day!  We started our day in Dinas Powys at Ceri’s parent’s house, she was back from the hairdresser when we arrived, her Sister, Zoe was doing her make up and Dad, Ian, was cooking their breakfast on the barbeque outside! The 3 Bridesmaids got into their Royal Blue dresses before helping Ceri into her beautiful dress from Berketex Brides that had lovely lace detail on the shoulders that followed down through the whole dress and the flowers from the Market Garden in Ely complimented all of the dresses and suits.  Proud Mum, Margo & Dad were waiting at the bottom of the stairs with the Bridesmaids and we then went outside in to the immaculate garden for some photographs.  Phil, the boys and his family were waiting patiently at the church in their smart navy suits from Jo Mclaren in Teddington. It was lovely to see Father Anthony again, he gave a lovely service and made everyone feel relaxed and welcome.  The weather was ‘unexpectedly’ gorgeous so we were able to take all of the photographs outside, everyone walked back up the hill from the church to the castle and had welcome drinks and canapés in the courtyard and out on the terrace. After the tasty wedding breakfast, provided by the Town and Country Caterers we went with Ceri & Phil down to the waters edge, it had poured down whilst they were eating so there were some cool clouds to incorporate!  All their guests were great fun and took part in a Marryoke of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing filmed by Sally & Emma of Orchid Films, for a look at the hilarious results click here.  After cutting the cake that was made by Bridesmaid, Rhianna, they took to the dancefloor and once their first dance had occurred the brilliant band ‘Session’ took to the stage, they were also guests, Ceri was also one of the other Bridesmaids!

Llanerch Vineyard Wedding Photography

Llanerch Vineyard Wedding Photography

Here is a first look at some of our favourite images from Charlotte & Andrew’s wedding, the first wedding reception to be photographed from the present owners at Llanerch Vineyard!  Charlotte & her parents and Bridesmaids got ready at the vineyard in the beautiful Cariad room and their theme for the day was very appropriately sage & ivory which was very befitting for such a countryside venue! Charlotte’s dress was from Timeless Elegance and was just that, she looked extremely elegant and the Bridesmaids who were all wearing sage coloured dresses really complimented her.  The Groom and his Groomsmen, 2 young nephews and both the Dads wore tartan kilts so we were all glad that the temperature had dropped for the day!! The wedding had been two years in the planning since the proposal in Lindos, Greece and we were honoured to be asked to photograph the wedding as we have already photographed another member of the family’s wedding.  The ceremony took place at St Isan’s Church in Llanishen where Charlotte arrived 15 minutes early in her beautiful Beauford hired from Perfect Day Wedding Cars along with the vintage bus that transported the bridesmaids and both Mum’s to and from the vineyard.  We were able to photograph in so many areas at the reception venue, from the Woodland Pathway to walking through the vines in front of the farmhouse that is now the restaurant, shop and some bedrooms.  The delicious food was provided by EJ Catering and the day went very smoothly thanks to the co-ordination of Emma Butler from Sylvie and Joan Creative Weddings and Events.  The evening entertainment was provided by the really cool band The Somebodys who had everyone up dancing straight after the First Dance!  The whole day was captured on video by Accesi.

The Lindsays had their first ‘on location’ Family Portrait Photography session last Saturday.  Despite the wind, it was dry and sometimes sunny at the beach in Llantwit Major.  Evan looked so cool in his yellow Mac’ & he enjoyed walking on the flat rocks with his Mum & Dad, Jules & Dave!  We love to photograph at this beach as it provides a cool back drop for Portrait Photography and includes the element of Landscape Photography too.  We first photographed Evan as a newborn 18 months ago, it is fab watching him grow and to see him running around, enjoying the outdoors! We met Jules & Dave 8 years ago when they asked us to photograph their Wedding Photography in South Wales at The Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel, Coychurch, Bridgend, they have just celebrated their 7 years Anniversary!

Here are a few images of Gemma and Matt’s beach portrait photography shoot on Saturday at our local beach at Llantwit Major.  Amazingly it was actually warm enough to take our winter coats off, lets hope spring is finally here!  The sun was so bright, so we decided to shoot a mixture of silhouette, high key and reflected light shots.  Gemma and Matt were great sports and battled the rocks, slippery seaweed and incoming tide to get their outdoor portraits.  It was great fun and we can’t wait to photograph their wedding, which is coming up at the New House Country Hotel, Thornhill, Cardiff.

Landscape Photography Wales

Here are a few of my favorite landscape photographs from last nights sunset on a stretch of the Vale of Glamorgan Coast, South Wales.  It was the first time I have photographed this section of the coast and I just got there in time as I didn’t think it would be such a long walk.  To make the most out of the destination I stayed until it got dark, it was a good job I packed my flashlight as I’m not sure I would have found the path back otherwise!  It is a really good spot for landscape photography, I spotted a number of other options, so it looks like I have to make a return visit!  Can anyone guess where it is?

Bear Hotel Cowbridge Wedding Photography Wales

These are a few of our favourite wedding photos from Rachel & Joseff’s wedding at The Bear Hotel Cowbridge.  Rachel got ready at her parents house in Rhoose with her family and bridesmaids.  It was a very relaxing start to the day.  Her Grandfather drove her to St. Illtud’s Church in Llantwit Major in his vintage Rolls Royce.  It is great to work in our local church, it is so lovely inside.  We did a few family groups at the church and finished the rest at the Bear Hotel Cowbridge.  We took Rachel and Jos on a short walk around Cowbridge Town and the Physic Garden to finish their Bridal Portraits.  Wedding Details:  Venue Bear Hotel Cowbridge, Dress by Ellis Bridal, Flowers by Cariad Designs, Shoes by Faith, Suits by Perfection, Honeymoon in Mexico.

Vale Hotel & Spa Wedding Photography

Vale Hotel & Spa Wedding

These are a few of our favourite wedding photos from Sheena & Nathan’s wedding at The Vale Hotel & Spa Hotel near Llantrisant.  Sheena got ready at the Vale Hotel & Spa with her close family and friend.  The ceremony was an intimate affair at Castell Coch in Tongwynlais.  We took a few family and bridal portraits at the castle before heading back to the Vale Hotel & Spa for the wedding reception.  The weather was fantastic and everyone enjoyed being outside, with the guests being treated to champagne and popcorn.  Wedding details: Dress and shoes by Allison Jayne, Suits by Dyfed Menswear, Rings by Fraser Hart Crouch, Bridesmaids dresses by High Society Cowbridge.

St. Donats Castle Wedding

This post contains a choice of our favourite wedding photos from the wedding of Lucy & Julian who were married at St. Donats Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan.  Lucy got ready in a room provided by St. Donats Castle with her mum and bridesmaids.  As Julian is from Germany, the day had a definite Bavarian feel to it.  The ceremony was held inside because of the weather, but everyone went outside in the windy conditions after to have their drinks and hors d’oeuvres.  We were able to use areas both inside and outside the beautiful grounds at St. Donats Castle.  Lucy even braved the elements for an evening paddle in her wellies!!!

Llantwit Major Wedding Photography

Llantwit Major Wedding

Here are some of our favourite images from Pippa & Chris’s Llantwit Major wedding at St. Illtud’s Church, in the Vale of Glamorgan.  Followed by a Marquee reception at Tresilian Bay between Llantwit Major and St. Donats.  We started at the house in Tresilian Bay where Pippa was getting ready with her mum, brother and bridesmaids.  Pippa was taken to St. Illtud’s Church for the Llantwit Major Wedding in a horse and carriage which was great to capture as she was approaching down the narrow streets.  Luckily the rain held off long enough for us to get the wedding photography of the families at the church.  Pippa had noticed a farmers field of wheat on her way to the church so we stopped there for some bridal wedding photography on the way back to the house, the views over the channel were great.  It was great to do a Llantwit Major Wedding as the church is literally right on our doorstep.

Fonmon Castle Wedding Photography

Fonmon Castle Wedding

This post contains a choice of my favorite images from the wedding of Hannah and John at Fonmon Castle in Rhoose, South Wales.  Hannah got ready at her parents house in St. Hilary, South Wales.  We had photographed Hannah’s sister Claire a few years earlier so it was like photographing old friends.  Hannah and John had flown home from Hong Kong for their wedding at Fonmon Castle.  Hannah chose a really novel idea where she was able to design her own shoes, DYOS.  The ceremony took place at the village church in St. Hilary.  A bus transported all the guests on to Fonmon Castle for the reception.  We were able to take all the family portraits in the gardens which are always beautiful.  The bridal portraits were taken throughout the amazing grounds.
