Weddings at New House Hotel Cardiff

Anya & Justin had selected one of our favourite venues, we always love photographing weddings at The New House Country Hotel .  We were lucky enough that the glorious weather continued (it was maybe a little too warm & bright dare we say it?!!) so we were able to use the best areas of the hotel for all of the photographs.

We arrived at Anya’s parents to a hive of activity, their hair had already been expertly completed by Jude & Sally from Aztec Hairdressers who had already left so their make up was being applied by Eleri Thomas and Bridesmaids were getting in to their gorgeous green Dessy gowns from High Society in Cowbridge. The flowers arrived from Andrea’s Florist in Penarth, they were gorgeous ivory Gerberas, small hand tied bouquets for the Bridesmaids and a larger one for Anya, they complimented their dresses perfectly.  Anya’s twin Sister, Francesca, helped her with her dress which was a stunning Stella York gown from Laura May Bridal in Cardiff before she walked down the stairs where her Mum & Dad were waiting proudly for her!

After some family and Bridesmaids photo we joined Justin and his family and Groomsmen at St Teilo’s Church in Whitchurch, Anya’s Family’s Church, in fact at their request the retired Canon Eddie O’Connell came back form Ireland to perform their ceremony which made it very personal to them.  The boys looked very smart in their navy Ted Baker 3 piece suits from Moss Bros in Cardiff with green cravattes that matched the Bridesmaids dresses.  There was a fab folk group playing in the church (of which we know 2 of the members!) which made everyone feel at ease prior to and during the ceremony.

After a beautiful ceremony everyone made their way to the picturesque New House Country Hotel where the views were just stunning due to the equally stunning Summer weather, therefore made for a perfect back drop for all of the family and friends photographs!  Everyone was very relaxed enjoying the views and the welcome drinks!  We took Anya & Justin to see the Wyndham Suite which had been beautifully decorated by Emma Hall Designs Anya’s face was a picture when she walked in to see it, just as she had imagined it to look like!  We made our way to the 3 tier cake that a Family friend had made, which they cut a bit later just before the First Dance.

Unusually the speeches were before the Wedding Breakfast and equally unusually Justin’s Dad spoke, after Anya’s Dad and before Justin then his 2 Best Men!!  As it had been such a gorgeous day, the light was perfect for more photographs on the lower lawn where we had a bit of fun with the Bridal party before capturing Anya & Justin in more romantic poses!!  We had already wandered over to the area to the side of the hotel where the giant Sequoia tree over 115 metres high stands and casts some much needed shade on what was a super sunny & hot day!!

The evening was kicked off with the cutting of the cake, then the DJ played their First Dance for them, which they danced together for a few minutes before their families and friends were asked to join them!!  The band The Soul Miners kept everyone on the dance floor, where we left them dancing the night away!!!  Can’t wait until next time we’re here to shoot weddings at the New House Hotel, lets hope the weather cooperates then too!

Weddings at Oxwich Bay Hotel Gower

Photographing weddings at Oxwich Bay Hotel, Gower is so idyllic in this beautiful coastal setting.  Alicia & Mike hadn’t banked on was the perfect beach weather to go with it!!  The sky was blue & the sun shone, every Bride’s perfect Wedding day!!

Both families had rented property in the area as neither families are local – though Alicia is from our home turf of Llantwit Major!!!  The local associations didn’t stop there, amazing hair stylist Katie Louise styled Alicia & her Sister Hannah’s hair and Charlotte Joy applied stunning make up to them are both from the Vale of Glamorgan too!  As Alicia & Mike live on the Isle of Wight it made sense for them to be able to liaise with their suppliers locally when they came home for Wedding preparations, so we were familiar with a lot of their Suppliers too, such as A J Gutteridge Florist who supplied beautiful bouquets & button holes that complimented the pastel pinks & cream colour theme.

Alicia’s stunning Enzoani, Harlem Wedding gown was from Laura May Bridal in Cardiff and Mike and his Groomsman and their Father’s tailored blue suits were from Moss Bros.  We started with Alicia’s family at the pretty Holly Tree Lodge in Penmaen about 10 mins from Oxwich Bay,  capturing the final preparations and taking some photographs of her & Hannah & the gorgeous baby Maxwell (Alicia’s nephew, Hannah’s baby son) We just love the moment when the bride walks down the stairs and her Father sees her in her dress for the first time, it is often very emotional and it was no different for Alicia and her Dad, we feel very privileged to witness this moment!

It was then time to head off to the Oxwich Bay Hotel to meet up with Mike, his groomsmen and family as they were greeting guests and generally enjoying the sunshine, however, it was soon time to get everyone in to the Oak Room to await Alicia’s arrival, in her Mercedes provide by I Doo Wedding Cars,  though Mike remained very calm Alicia was very excited to see him!  After the ceremony where the couple exchanged their wedding vows and rings from Pravins, back out in to the gardens immediately outside the hotel was where everyone gathered to greet the Bride & Groom and it also served as a good spot to take the family portraits and to take a photograph of everyone all together before we moved on to the Marquee that had been beautifully decorated by Bespoke Wedding Creations, though Alicia and her Mum had added the personal touch with the wedding favours.

Once we had taken a photograph of the fabulous cake made by Wish upon a Cupcake we continued with photographs of friends and family on the lawn in front of the Marquee whilst listening to the amazing music being performed by The Live Lounge Duo, who played up until it was time to sit down for the Wedding Breakfast.  Once the meal had been served and speeches had been delivered it was time to take Alicia & Mike for a wander across the beach to the dunes and make the most of the fantastic scenery, Oxwich bay provided the most perfect back drop for their Bridal portraits, we just love a beautiful landscape and even more so when there is a gorgeous couple on it!  All that was left to do was the First Dance and for us to leave them dancing the night away!  Can’t wait until next time we’re here to shoot weddings at Oxwich Bay Hotel, lets hope the weather cooperates then too!

Weddings at Coed Y Mwstwr Bridgend

Weddings at Coed Y Mwstwr Bridgend

Love photographing weddings at Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel.  Once again, the gorgeous venue for Lynne & Ben’s Welsh Spring Wedding and the weather did them proud!  We arrived to find Lynne, her daughter Grace and the two Mums etc. having their Make Up & Hair done by Joanne from MAC and Annie Mccormack respectively, so the room was full of happy atmosphere but a bit busy so we took Lynne’s stunning Maggie Sottero dress to the room next door that was lighter – and being prepared for other wedding guests – along with her bouquet from David Jones Florist.

The colour theme for the day was pale pink and ivory, perfectly captured in Grace’s dress from Monsoon complimenting the flowers, the cake that was made by a friend Jenny Vade and the reception room that was dressed by the hotel.  Ben was in charge of their Son, Joe who is only 10 months, he was getting ready in another room so popped there to help him with his tie and button hole, he and all of the Wedding party Men had worn their own suits, he had chosen a navy one which looked lovely with the pink and ivory of Lynne & Grace.

It was a very emotional ceremony, Grace and Lynne’s niece Mia had written their own poems and read them expertly, but the whole day was based around having fun so once the ceremony was over everyone was out on the lawn playing lawn games and there was lots of laughter to be heard!  We took the formal photographs and then whisked Lynne & Ben off just down to the end of the drive to use the lovely setting of an avenue of trees, it was cooler and gave them some time to themselves before getting back to all of their family and friends.

Fabulous speeches followed a delicious wedding breakfast, we managed to pop out for a few more photographs with Lynne & Ben to capture the remainder of the sunset through the trees, then Lynne threw her bouquet (one that she had made not the actual one!) and her niece Mia caught it, much to everyone’s delight – though at 14 she won’t be getting married next we don’t think 😉  The fabulous Justin Banwell & his brother Mike from Black Panther Discos who are the resident DJs got the evening off to a great start, the First Dance was ‘This Year’s Love’ by David Gray, then straight in to some top tunes to get everyone up on the dancefloor, where they pretty much stayed all night except to have some buffet!!!!   Can’t wait to photograph our weddings at the Coed Y Mwstwr Hotel, always a great day!

Weddings at Canada Lakes Lodge Cardiff – Rhian & Aled

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]

Photographing weddings at Canada Lakes Lodge are never dull even when the Welsh wet weather turns up in full force and it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of this fun day!  It was the setting for Rhian & Aled’s May wedding after Aled had proposed to Rhian in their garden at home!  It was the first time that we had photographed in their new accomodation lodges, they are perfect for preparing for the day and provided a perfect backdrop for pre-ceremony photographs.
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]
Rhian’s bridesmaids were all there with her, hair and make up completed by Laura from Ken Picton Salon, creating a very calm atmosphere, nibbling on some snacks and sipping fizz in their matching kimono dressing gowns!  The wooden terrace with porch was just right for photographing Rhian’s beautiful Wedding gown by Martina Liana from Laura May Bridal along with the absolutely stunning bouquets and button holes from Anne Marie Mellini at Petal Power Wales – who also decorated the ceremony and reception room – and her pretty Rachel Simpson shoes.
 [dt_gap height=”10″ /]
Rhian’s gorgeous Flower Girl and Page Boy joined them as did her Mum, Dad, brother and Sister in law just in time for some pre-ceremony photographs on the terrace as the rain decided to join in the fun and hung around all day, though no-one seemed to notice or got wet thanks to Dai, Carly and the staff from Canada Lakes who transported them to the entrance of the Lodge in cars.
 [dt_gap height=”10″ /]
Music is very important to both of them, there was a Gypsy Jazz Band playing before & after the ceremony – Café Manouche , a very good friend played the piano when Rhian walked down the aisle and a choir of friends sang whilst they were signing the register.  Thank heavens for the porch area outside the main entrance, it has lovely lighting and is wide enough for small formal group shots (we even manged to do a confetti shot too!!)  And the upstairs balcony provides a bit of shelter below so we were able to photograph outside with the picturesque lake as a backdrop for a few Bridal shots.
 [dt_gap height=”10″ /]
Spiros Catering company provided delicious canapes and a Wedding Breakfast and buffet, however, their fab Wedding cupcakes were made by their Family friend Jane!  It was a lovely change to have a fab Folk band, which unusually provided the First Dance music, to which Rhian & Aled performed a Folk Dance with some Family members and friends!  The rest of the guests were also encouraged to do some dancing, before Los Devitos took the floor, upped the tempo and got everyone up dancing the night away!!!  Can’t wait to photograph more weddings at Canada Lakes Lodge – even in the wet!

Weddings at Elmore Court Gloucester

Weddings at Elmore Court Gloucester – an English Country Garden

Weddings at Elmore Court in Gloucester, what a stunning location for the sunny Spring Wedding of Rachel & Tim Chandler! This ‘event exclusive’ venue has got it just right, we can see why they fell in love with it, we were spoilt for choice for photographic opportunities!  Rachel’s choice of Wedding Gown, ‘Mikaela’ from SJP Bridal and her Bridesmaid Cerys’s navy dress from Jenny Packham complimented the location  and the simple but beautiful bouquets, button holes, corsages and decorative flowers from Bespoke Flower Co. completed the effect. Rachel  had arrived having had her hair done and make up applied by Natasha Woods, we were able to be part of the getting ready process,  photographing the dress and accessories prior to Rachel  & Cerys getting ready as well as helping Mum with her finishing touches.   As Tim and his family arrived, along with his Best Man, Adam & his Dad, looking smart in their T M Lewin Navy suits and maroon ties, we helped with button holes and captured them whilst they were greeting other guests. The ceremony took place in the light, sunny Reception area of the house where Angharad James played the harp beautifully as Rachel entered on the arm of her very proud Dad who handed her to Tim so that they could exchange Wedding rings from Gem Time. There was an unusual twist as Rachel  & Tim walked back down the aisle the confetti was thrown!!! Drinks & canapes were served on the side lawn, Phil, Tim’s cousin acted as MC for the day and helped us get appropriate guests together for the requested photographs before announcing the time for everyone to make their way to the Gillyflower room where the Wedding Breakfast followed the great speeches. After a delicious meal the guests had plenty to occupy them with a ‘polaroid camera’ home made photo booth and signing the guest book.  As the weather had been so lovely we were able to take  Rachel  & Tim back outside for some more Bridal shots in the evening sun, the fire pit had been lit and guests were enjoying sitting outside even though the temperature was getting cool. Phil then announced the cake cutting, a simple 3 tier cake from M&S with ivory icing and sugar flowers as decoration. It was a delight to capture the First Dance, an unusually upbeat track Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynn’s ‘rather be’ after which the band The White Rivers had everyone up on the dancefloor with their great covers of fab tracks. The staff at Elmore Court were fabulous,  attending to Rachel & Tim’s every need and looking after us too!!!  Can’t wait to shoot more weddings at Elmore Court – what a stunning country venue!

Weddings at Roch Castle Pembrokeshire

Weddings at Roch Castle Pembrokeshire – What a stunning Boutique Wedding Venue

Weddings at Roch Castle, what an an exciting new venue to add to our portfolio! This dramatic venue stands in a stunning location just outside Haverfordwest in the Pembrokeshire countryside!  Layla & Stuart wanted a very intimate wedding as the proposal had been so intimate, at home, and the castle is  perfect for just that as it has been sympathetically restored in a contemporary design with beautiful, soft, furnishings. Llayla got ready in one of the 6 modern decorated bedrooms where the hairdresser had come to do Layla and her Mum’s hair, they applied their own make up – beautifully – and when it was time to put on Layla’s beautiful fitted lace and crystal Aphrodite dress from The Tailor’s Cat in Cambridge her Mum was on hand to do up all of the buttons and assist with putting her shoes and jewellery. The flowers looked and smelt wonderful, they were perfectly matched to Layla’s chosen colour theme of lilac and ivory, Tussie Mussie had done a grand job of the bouquet, button holes, corsages and displays around the castle’s rooms, including decorating the cake that was from M&S.  We went to find Stuart and his Best Man Will, his Mum & Dad and 2 brothers and two Sisters and capture them together outside, whilst it was still dry.  The boys looked very smart in their grey Moss Bross suits with lilac waistcoats to compliment the theme running through the whole wedding.  The 23 guests made up of close family and friends enjoyed a lovely ceremony where Stuart’s Sister, Sarah, gave a reading and the Cambrian String Quartet played beautifully before, during the ‘register signing’ and afterwards whilst the guests enjoyed drinks and canapes.  It remained dry so that we could take the guests outside for photographs, using the drawbridge and below to include a confetti shot.  The Castle is surrounded by pretty gardens and stone walls, it was great to literally walk a circuit with Layla & Stuart, capturing the venue and them from all angles!  We left them as they sat down to their sumptuous meal prepared by the resident Chef in the cosy dining room.  Can’t wait to shoot more weddings at Roch Castle – just beautiful!

Weddings at City Hall Cardiff – Wow take a peak at this colourful day!

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]Weddings at City Hall Cardiff – Wow take a peak at this colourful day!

Weddings at City Hall Cardiff are always a pleasure to photograph as it’s such a stunning venue and was the perfect choice for this lovely couple’s Wedding day!  Brinder and Trystan were uniting two Nationalities, but also bringing together the families & who are spread all over the world, not just England & Wales but Canada & Spain too!!!  It was always going to be a colourful affair with Brinder’s family and some of their friends wearing Saris, with Brinder’s being the most beautiful incorporating bold colours of pink & orange & adorned with gold embroidery and accessorised with gold & pink bangles, gold earrings, necklace and matha patti (head piece).  We joined Brinder and her family at their rented house in Cardiff Bay where there was a lot of activity with Brinder having her hair & make up applied by Shaz Mani Hair & Beauty, whilst her two young Bridesmaids were getting ready in another room, along with her sister, Mum and family members that had flown in from Canada especially for the occasion!!!  Brinder’s 2 Best friends were on hand to help with completing Brinder’s attire adding the bangles, gorgeous Carvella champagne glitter shoes and the other finishing touches!  The bouquets for Brinder and her two cute Bridesmaids from Sweet Peony Florist completed the look! The friendly drivers from Alliance Executive Cars transported everyone to the City Hall where we caught up with Trystan, his family and Ushers – Dylan his brother was his Best Man – all of the guys looked smart in their navy suits with gold waistcoats and ties from Slater’s Menswear.  The ceremony took place in the Marble Hall, a gorgeous, light room that is very grand with marble pillars and statues and once the ceremony was over and the chairs had been moved in to the banquet hall for the wedding breakfast we utilised the area for the formal family photographs!  The stunning Cathays Park was perfect for their Bridal portraits so we wandered around there with them, it was raining ever so slightly so we got to try out our new heart shaped umbrella from Umbrella Heaven however, it dried up immediately and we were able to capture Brinder & Trystan walking through the park, even getting some natural confetti from the blossom trees when the breeze picked up!  Capturing their every move was the lovely Craig & Abby from Diamond Cut Videos who like us wanted to get beautiful images of them.  The drinks, canapes and wedding breakfast were provided & served by Five Rivers Catering Group once Brinder and Trystan had been led in to the Banquet Hall by two traditional drummers, they had cut their cake – which was made by Trystan’s cousin Deborah, it looked amazing! – and the three speeches one of which was made by Sanjeeta , Brinder’s sister, Trystan and then his brother Dylan!  Compering the events was the DJ from Illusions Roadshow they had everyone up dancing as soon as the First Dance had finished and we left them dancing the night away!  So there it is – as far as weddings at City Hall Cardiff go, I’m sure you’ll agree Brynder and Trystan certainly pulled off something special!

Pencoed House Wedding Photography Cardiff

Pencoed House Wedding Photography Cardiff

Pencoed House Estate was the beautiful setting for this lovely couple’s wedding day, a rare sunny day in April as their theme was all about the countryside and wild flowers, befitting of their chosen ceremony venue the gorgeous St John the Baptist Church, in Penhow.  It sits on the top of a hill surrounded by fields, just down the road from Rachel’s parents home, we met up with Michael and his Groomsmen and Family there, his Brother Fergus stepping up to his Best man duties and Rachel’s Brother being Usher.  It was a pleasure for everyone arriving in their own cars or on the bus provided to see Michael and the Groomsmen waiting to greet them in their smart Navy Morning Suits from Austin Reed Hire, with pale blue cravattes to compliment them and the gorgeous Bridesmaids dresses that were from Asos.  The Bridesmaids arrived with Rachel’s Mum, Michael’s niece and nephew joined them looking sooo cute, Lorcan performed perfect Page Boy duties and held a sign to walk down the aisle letting Michael know that Rachel was soon to follow!  She did not disappoint and looked absolutely stunning in her Augusta Jones ‘Jo’ Wedding gown from Clifton Brides, all of the girls and the Church flowers were designed by Deacon’s Florist in Chepstow completed the vision. The church was quite small, but there was enough room for the guests and the Chepstow Male Voice Choir who were awesome and encouraged great singing!!  In keeping with Michael’s Military roots, two of his former colleagues performed a ‘Guard of Honour’ at the entrance to the Church that made for a lovely photograph as the lovely couple were leaving.  At Pencoed House Estate the continued weather allowed us to photograph around the grounds, taking in the front lawn with the stream and bridges, also using the outside of the barn for the group photographs.  EJ Catering provided a delicious Wedding breakfast, once the speeches had taken place, unusually, so that everyone could relax and enjoy the food!  once the amazing cake had been cut – made by a friend of theirs Sophie Beasley, the room was quickly cleared and the band The Cherry Beats set up to kick off the evening proceedings starting with the First dance, we left the Wedding Party with everyone on the dancefloor, clearly enjoying themselves!

Vale Resort Wedding Photography

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]Vale Resort Wedding Photography – Maria & Gerard’s Special Day

Maria & Gerard’s Wedding Day at The Vale Resort, Hensol was always going to be fun & emotional, bringing two Nationalities together in the Welsh countryside!  The weather obliged with the typical Welsh rain, but it definitely did not dampen anyone’s spirits and we followed the sound of laughter to the room at the hotel where Maria was getting ready along with her Mother, Sisters and nieces!  Joanne from MAC Cosmetics was applying beautiful make up to the bridesmaid, Maria’s niece Patricia and Annie MacCormack was working her magic on Maria’s hair, it was all go!  We photographed the activity in between capturing the all important items that were contributing to the day such as Maria’s stunning ‘Dylan Queen‘ dress, her unusally coloured & pretty ‘pink’ Sarah Bridal Shoes, her gorgeous hand tied bouquet of baby pink & white roses supplied by I Love Lily Florist, Patricia’s beautiful ‘While Azulea’ green dress and the ‘piece de resistance’ – the something borrowed! – beautiful earrings that Maria’s cousin lent her.  We went to find Gerard, his brother and Mum & Dad to take a few photographs of them prior to the ceremony in the conservatory, using the chairs that were beautifully dressed by Liz Jones from Totally Co-ordinated.  Gerard’s brother Steven was his Best Man and they looked super smart in their Moss Bros grey suits with ties the same colour as Patricia’s dress, as did both Gerard & Maria’s Dads!  After the ceremony the room was transformed to serve the Wedding Breakfast, but we were able to use one end of the room to photograph the two families by which time the rain had stopped for us to take Maria & Gerard outside for some photographs of them and their friends!  Just before the wedding breakfast we photographed the whole wedding party in the foyer of the hotel, before they enjoyed a beautiful meal!  The cake was a particularly special as two dragons – a Bride & Groom – had been created by Designer Cakes by Janet to don the top tier, very cute!  They cut this just before the First Dance, where Maria danced with Gerard and her Dad and the DJ -Mark from Wedding DJ Cardiff got everyone on the dance floor immediately afterwards where they stayed for rest of the night!

Llanerch Vineyard Wedding Photography

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]Llanerch Vineyard Wedding Photography

Llanerch Vineyard is the stunning venue for this gorgeous couple’s wedding reception!  The weather was perfect, everyone had an amazing time, it was so laid back and Vix looked
fabulous in her Augustus James dress that she purchased from Laura May Bridal and pretty Dune shoes, which the Bridesmaids complimented in their long, coral dresses and the final touch of stunning bouquets from The Flower Lodge.  All of the girls had their hair and make up done by Brideology who came to Vix’s house and who ensured that they were all ready in good time to get dressed and have some photographs before we headed off to St Denys Church in Lisvane.  It was very emotional when Vix walked down the stairs and her Dad saw her for the first time, such a touching moment.  The boys were waiting for us at the church, looking extremely smart in their grey Moss Bros suits and plain ties – Henry was wearing a coral one to match the Bridesmaids!  We had met his Mum & Sister at the house so it was nice to meet his Dad & brother, who was an Usher too.  Once some of the remaining guests had been coaxed out of the pub across the road from the church it was time for the Bride, Father of the Bride, Bridesmaids and Vix’s Mum to arrive in ‘Candice’ from Henrietta Hire, they made a striking site walking along the pretty path in to the church where Rosemary was waiting for them to perform the ceremony.  The church is unusual as it is ‘L’ shaped so Vix & Henry stood at the edge of the ‘L’ so that all of their guests could see them and watch them exchange vows, though they signed the register in the vestry with just their parents and Rhys the Best Man and then walked back down the aisle and out in to the beautiful grounds of the church where confetti was thrown and a couple of family photographs were taken!  We all headed off to Llanerch Vineyard where the reception drinks and delicious canapes were served, whilst all of the guests were arriving we took Vix & Henry through the Woodland walk to the lake, it was so peaceful with perfect lighting, they enjoyed having a bit of time with each other before joining all of their guests in the Calon Lodge, overlooking the vines – we just stopped in the marquee for them to see the room set up as they had planned and to take a photograph of them with their cake made by Kooky Cakes!  The guests loved being able to appreciate the vines and sit outside in the glorious sunshine, the perfect backdrop for the family & friend’s photographs before heading to the marquee for the Wedding Breakfast.  A delicious meal was served and heartfelt, humorous speeches were delivered – including the story of how Henry proposed, amusingly it was at home in their kitchen as Henry’s plan to propose on a romantic walk was foiled by Vix finding a certificate of insurance for the carefully chosen engagement ring – before we took Vix & Henry back to the vines to photograph them in the late afternoon/early evening sun – Ryan the owner of the vineyard had set up a scaffold tower for Andy to be able to get a birds eye view of the gorgeous couple and the vines with the restaurant, hotel and Calon Lodge, it looked amazing!  Soon it was time for the cake cutting and then the First dance, played expertly by the band, Perfect Day Party Band!  We hope they are having an awesome honeymoon in Thailand and can’t wait to see them when they return to come to see their wedding day images!!
